*The route details provided are based on starting from the heart of Bibinje. However, you can also begin this route from Sukošan or Zadar, adjusting the starting point and overall distance accordingly.
Explore the Heart of Bibinje
The Bibinje bike route, including the charming Staro Selo peninsula, takes you through the town. Here, you’ll find two historic churches:
- Crkva rođenja sv. Ivana Krstitelja: Located in the old town, this 15th-century church is a cultural landmark with a baroque altar and sacred artifacts.
- Crkva sv. Roka: Known as the symbol of Bibinje, this church features a stone bell tower and rich baroque interiors.
Ride into History
A highlight of the Bibinje bike route is the climb to Hill Križ (154 meters), a strategic location during the Croatian War of Independence. Along the way, you’ll encounter Serbian bunkers and two iconic war relics:
- T-34 Tank: A historical reminder of the war.
- T-55 Tank: Featured in Serbian television footage just moments before it was destroyed. You can still find that video on YouTube here
At the summit, the panoramic views of Zadar, Ugljan, and Pašman make the climb worthwhile. However, this section is challenging, with a steep ascent and no shade, so it’s best suited for cyclists seeking an adventurous ride.
An Alternative Route - Red

St. Rocco Church: The Heart of Bibinje
Located in the heart of Bibinje, St. Rocco Church is one of the town’s most iconic landmarks. Built in the 17th century, it stands as a symbol of faith and resilience. The church features a distinctive stone bell tower with two bells facing west, making it a striking sight as you approach.
Inside, you’ll find baroque marble altars that add a touch of elegance and history to its interior. Although the original 1680 altar was damaged during World War II, fragments of it remain preserved, and the current main altar, crafted by master Michiel Coste in 1768, continues to impress visitors.
St. Rocco Church is more than just a religious site—it’s a cultural and historical treasure of Bibinje, making it a must-visit stop on the Bibinje bike route.
Križ Hill - A Historic Landmark
As you traverse the Bibinje bike route, a significant highlight is Križ Hill, standing at 154 meters. This hill was a pivotal strategic point during the Croatian War of Independence. In May 1992, Croatian forces launched Operation Jaguar to reclaim Križ Hill from occupying forces, successfully liberating it and securing the area around Bibinje and Zadar.
Today, Križ Hill serves as a poignant reminder of the region's past. Visitors can explore remnants from the war, including former bunkers and military equipment. The summit offers panoramic views of Zadar, Ugljan, and Pašman, making it a meaningful and scenic stop along the route.
Please note, that the ascent to Križ Hill is steep and exposed, so it's advisable to carry sufficient water and sun protection, especially during summer months.
T-55 on Dračevac
During the Croatian War of Independence, the village of Dračevac near Zadar was a critical battleground. On October 5, 1991, Croatian defenders faced a formidable assault by the Yugoslav People's Army (JNA), which deployed T-55 tanks in an attempt to capture the area. Despite being outgunned, the Croatian forces, armed primarily with infantry weapons, managed to destroy one of the T-55 tanks, halting the enemy's advance and preventing the fall of Zadar.
Today, the remains of this destroyed T-55 tank stand as a poignant memorial in Dračevac, symbolizing the resilience and bravery of those who defended the city. Visitors to the site can reflect on this pivotal moment in history, where courage triumphed over superior firepower.
D- Marine - The largest marina on the Croatian coast

For those on the Bibinje bike route, a visit to D-Marin Dalmacija offers a pleasant coastal ride leading to a beautiful beach and café, perfect for relaxation. Whether you're a sailing enthusiast or simply seeking a scenic spot to unwind, D-Marin Dalmacija is a highlight worth experiencing
