Need a cruise port bike rental in Zadar? Zadar-Bike delivers bikes directly to Zadar Cruise Port (Gaženica terminal) within 30 minutes. Book via WhatsApp while your ship is docking, and bikes will be waiting when you clear the terminal.

This page covers everything cruise passengers need: how delivery works, what it costs, and three ready-to-ride routes matched to your port time.

How Cruise Port Bike Delivery Works

Step 1: Message Us Before You Dock

Send us a WhatsApp message with:

– Your ship name and arrival time

How many bikes do you need

– Whether you want bikes or e-scooters (we offer both)

Most passengers message us the evening before or during the approach into Zadar. We confirm within minutes.

Step 2: We Meet You at Gaženica Terminal

We arrive at the cruise port with your bikes, helmets, locks, and a repair kit — all ready to ride. We’ll meet you just outside the terminal exit.

Step 3: Ride for 4–8 Hours

Explore Zadar Old Town, the coast, or even take the ferry to Ugljan Island. You set the pace. No group schedules, no guide to follow, no bus to catch.

Step 4: We Pick Up Wherever You Finish

Done riding? WhatsApp us your location and we collect the bikes. You don’t need to ride back to the port — we come to you. Walk back to the ship at your own pace, or we can pick up right at the terminal if you prefer.
We take 50€ per e-scooter as a deposit. You pay in Cash/card at delivery.

3 Cruise Port Bike Routes (Matched to Your Port Time)

Here I highlighted few routes you can realistically take as soon as you arrive. For all bike routes in Zadar please visit the Zadar bike route page.

Route 1: Old Town Express

Time needed: 3–4 hours | Distance: 15 km | Difficulty: Easy (flat)

Perfect if your ship is only in port for 4–5 hours.

The route: Cruise port → ride along the coast to Old Town (10 min by bike, 12 min by e-scooter) → Lock bikes at the city walls → Walk the Old Town: Sea Organ, Sun Salutation, St. Donatus Church, Roman Forum → Ride back along the waterfront → Return to port.

Highlights: You reach Old Town in 10 minutes by bike. Walking from the port takes 50+ minutes. That’s an extra hour of actual exploring instead of walking along a highway.

Route 2: Coastal Explorer (Zadar + Beaches)

Time needed: 5–6 hours | Distance: 25 km | Difficulty: Easy (flat, paved coastal path)

The best route if you have 6+ hours in port.

The route: Cruise port → Old Town (explore for 1–2 hours) → Continue south along the coast toward Borik beach → Swim stop → Turn back toward Old Town → Return to port.

Highlights: This route follows the flat coastal bike path the entire way. Multiple swimming spots, beach bars, and photo stops. 80% of the route has dedicated bike lanes.

Route 3: Ugljan Island Adventure

Time needed: 4–6 hours | Distance: 25 km cycling + ferry | Difficulty: Moderate (some hills on the island)

The ultimate cruise port day trip — if your ship gives you a full day.

The route: Cruise port → ride to Gaženica ferry terminal (1 min from cruise port) → Ferry to Preko, Ugljan Island (25 min, ~€3/person + ~€2 per bike) → Cycle the island’s coastal road through olive groves and fishing villages → Swim at Jaz beach or Muline beach → Ferry back → Ride to cruise port.

Highlights: Ugljan is a completely different world — quiet roads, almost no cars, crystal-clear swimming coves, and views back to Zadar across the channel. Most cruise passengers never see it because ship excursions don’t go there.

Important: Check the ferry schedule before committing. Ferries run roughly every 90 minutes. Last ferry back is usually around 20:00 in summer, but verify at [jadrolinija.hr]

Which Cruise Lines Stop in Zadar?

Zadar’s cruise port at Gaženica (opened April 2019) regularly receives ships from:

MSC Cruises — MSC Musica, MSC Opera

Costa Cruises — Costa Deliziosa, Costa Fascinosa

TUI Cruises — Mein Schiff fleet

Royal Caribbean — Various ships

Celebrity Cruises

Viking Ocean Cruises

Cunard — Queen Victoria, Queen Anne

Marella Cruises

Silversea

If your ship docks at Gaženica, we deliver there. No exceptions.

Practical Info for Cruise Cyclists

Distance from port to Old Town: 4.5 km. Most online sources say 1.5 km — that’s wrong. We measured it. It’s 4.5 km by the shortest walking route. By bike, you cover it in 15–20 minutes. Read the full distance breakdown in our Zadar cruise port guide

Where to lock bikes in Old Town: At the city walls entrance (Kopnena Vrata / Land Gate). There are bike racks. Zadar is generally safe, but always use the lock we provide. Other option (we recommend this one) is to use your bike all the way to the Sun greeting installation. This way you will discover whole town by bike.

Water and shade: Carry water. The port-to-Old-Town stretch is exposed with minimal shade. Once in Old Town, there are fountains and many cafés.

Cycling safety in Zadar: Zadar has dedicated bike paths along most of the coast. Traffic is calm outside the Old Town peninsula (where cycling is allowed but slow — it’s a pedestrian zone). We provide helmets and lights with every rental.

Returning to the ship: Give yourself 30 minutes buffer. Ride back to the terminal area, WhatsApp us at least 30-45 minutes before (we discuss all details upon delivery), and we will collect the bikes.

#Best For Independent Travelers

If you hate group tours and scheduled bus stops, bike rental is for you. You decide where to go, how long to stay, and when to come back. Most of our cruise passengers tell us the bike ride was the highlight of their Zadar stop — not because cycling is extraordinary, but because freedom is.

Best For Families with Kids

We have kids’ bikes (ages 6+) and child seats (ages 1–5, front and rear mount). The coastal path from the port to Old Town is flat and safe — no steep hills, minimal car traffic. Kids love it.

Child seats and kids’ bikes are included free with your rental — just request them when booking.

Best For Active Seniors

The terrain around Zadar is flat. Seriously flat. The coastal bike path has almost zero elevation change. If you can ride a bike, you can ride in Zadar. We provide comfortable trekking bikes with upright seating positions, multiple gears (you’ll mostly use 1–2), and anti-puncture tires.

Not sure about cycling? Consider renting an [e-scooter instead]— zero pedaling, same freedom.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. Most cruise passengers book the morning of arrival or the evening before via WhatsApp. As long as you give us 30–60 minutes notice, we’ll have bikes at the terminal when you arrive. During peak summer (July–August), booking 1–2 days ahead is safer.

4.5 km by the shortest route — not 1.5 km as many guides claim. By bike, it takes 15–20 minutes. Walking takes 50+ minutes along a route with little shade. This is the main reason bike rental makes sense for cruise passengers.

No problem. WhatsApp us with the updated time and we adjust. No cancellation fees for delays.

You don’t “return” them anywhere. We pick up from wherever you are — Old Town, the beach, a restaurant, or back at the port. Just WhatsApp us 30-45 minutes before you’re done.

Yes. E-scooters are faster and require zero effort — great if you want to cover more ground in less time. We deliver them to the cruise port just like bikes. [See e-scooter rental details]

Yes. Most of the route has dedicated bike lanes or low-traffic roads. The only busy section is a short stretch near the port exit, where you ride on the shoulder for about 500 meters before reaching the bike path. We provide helmets and lights with every rental

Yes. The Zadar–Ugljan ferry (Gaženica to Preko) accepts bikes for approximately €2 per bike on top of the passenger fare (~€3). The ferry terminal is a 5-minute ride from the cruise port.
