How to Get from Zadar Airport to Zadar

Zadar Airport (ZAD) is located in Zemunik Donji, approximately 8 km (5 miles) east of the city center of Zadar, Croatia. To get from Zadar Airport to the city, you have the following options: bus, taxi, car hire, pre-booked transfer, or even bike hire if you're not carrying too much luggage.

By Bus

The cheapest way to get from Zadar Airport to Zadar is by using public transportation. The bus station is located just above the passenger terminal building.

A one-way ticket costs 4,65 euros, and you can purchase the tickets from the bus driver.

Bus Route

The local bus route from the airport is as follows:

Zadar airport → Gaženica ferry port (bus station near the terminal) → Zadar Main bus station → Poluotok (Zadar city center)

The return route for the airport bus is:

Poluotok (city Centre) → Main bus station Zadar → Gaženica ferry port (bus station near CRODUX petrol station) → Zadar airport

Timetable

The first city bus of the day leaves Zadar Airport around 7 am, while the last bus leaves around midnight. The bus timetable is different every day.

Rent a Bike

If you're in Zadar for only a few days and you're packing really light, you can alsorent a bike. By Shuttle Service

You can also use a shuttle service from the airport to Zadar. There are 2 lines, one going to Pag and Novalja, and another going to Borik (Northern side of Zadar) and Petrčane.

By Taxi

If your hotel or apartment is far from the Zadar city center bus station, what a good option is to take a taxi, or a cab. The taxi drivers at the Zadar airport are located just outside the exit of the international arrivals terminal on the other side.

Taxies are available 24/7 and, depending on where you want to go, the prices of a ride vary between €40 - €50. The ride from the airport to the old town takes around 14-15 minutes, a bit more if there is traffic.

As you can see, the prices are quite high. One taxi ride costs as much as renting a bike for 3 days or an e-scooter for an entire day.

Pre Booked Transfer

Some hotels in Zadar even offer you the option of having a free transfer from the airport to where you are accommodated. When booking your stay, just check the hotel's website to see if a pre-booked transfer is available. Some hotels offer this service for free, while others charge a fee. The price for private transfer varies from hotel to hotel.

By Car

At Zadar airport, you can also find several rental car companies located right near or inside the terminal. Renting a car in Zadar is pretty expensive. For example, if you want to rent a car from Sixt for three days during the summer, the prices start from €70 per day. Besides, the rental prices, you also need to consider parking fees and gas. Parking costs between €0,3 and €0,8 per hour.
